PURAFIL Inc. - Chemical Filters
For more than 40 years, Purafil has provided clean air solutions, odor and corrosion controls to airports, hotels & casinos, schools & universities, hospitals & healthcare facilities, cleanrooms, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, water and waste water facilities worldwide.
Air Quality Assessment
A controlled space, such as a control room or motor control center is designed in accordance with strict environmental criteria to protect sensitive electronics from damage caused by corrosive gases. These criteria are developed by the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society of America (ISA), a professional society that develops environmental standards for environments in which process control equipment is located.
Purafil's Air Quality Assessment Service provides specially prepared coupons in critical operating environments. The rate of corrosion buildup, measured in Angstroms, on the coupon is indicative of the environment's Air Quality Classification — G1, G2, G3, or GX — as defined by ISA (detailed in table below). Purafil performs this service as a diagnostic tool to determine the types and levels of contaminants in various areas of your facility. |

Industrial Markets
Purafil specializes in the design and manufacture of corrosion control media and scrubbers to improve process reliability. Our scrubbers provide clean air to control rooms, motor control centers, rack rooms, and other areas housing electronics and electrical equipment. Purafil also manufactures scrubbers to protect electronic cabinets and compressors from damage caused by corrosive air. |

Air Monitoring
Purafil's OnGuard® series of real-time reactivity monitors provide a continuous measure of environmental corrosion levels. OnGuard readings also correlate to ISA's air quality classification scheme. Place an OnGuard monitor at the outlet of your air scrubber to verify performance or place the monitor in the room to identify corrosion- related events. Most importantly, OnGuard monitors provide continuous readings, necessary to identify trends and take preventive action. |

Onguard Continuous Corrosion Transmitter (CCT)
• Measures in real-time the amount of corrosion forming on copper and silver surfaces, and transmits this information to the distributed control system via a 4-20 mA output signal. |
 |
Onguard 3000 (OG3) Atmospheric Corrosion Monitor
• Real-time reactivity data can either be logged by an internal data logger or transmitted directly to the distributed control system via a 4-20 mA output signal. • Records or transmits temperature and relative humidity readings. |

Commercial Buildings
Urbanization and technological advances create adverse effects in commercial facilities. Poor indoor air quality (IAQ) stems from automotive exhaust fumes, tobacco smoke, industrial gases and other sources of outside air pollution. Used in most commercial buildings, common particulate filters cannot solve all problems related to poor IAQ. Gaseous contaminants -not particulate- are the true sources of odor complaints and can only be controlled through gas-phase air filtration. |
|
IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM: AIR BORNE POLLUTION
Controlling airborne pollutants is essential to maintaining a comfortable indoor environment. Pollutants can come from outside and inside the building. Outside sources of odors, including the incinerators, loading docks and waste disposal units, are usually located at the rear of the building within a few feet of primary HVAC air intakes. Emissions from nearby industrial facilities or residential furnaces can also result in complaints. Inside sources of pollution can include breakrooms, cafeterias, restaurants, gymnasiums, classes, cleaning compounds, laboratories, and the use as special medical equipment or machinery. Office furnishings and printers can worsen indoor air quality. For clean indoor air, Purafil offers an extensive product selection, from pleated chemical filters to modular front and side access units. Our systems are designed for easy maintenance and are incorporated into your makeup, supply, or return airstreams

Water and Wastewater Market
Purafil is your Single-Source Manufacturer for preventing odors, protecting criticalelectronics from corrosion and eliminating the risk of toxic gas releases (chlorine, sulfur dioxide and ammonia).
Odor Control: To eliminate odorous gases from sewage collection and processing operations. Toxic Gas Scrubbing: To prevent accidental chemical releases at facilities storing hazardous quantitiesof toxic gases, specifically chlorine, sulfur dioxide and ammonia. Corrosion Control: To protect electronic equipment from premature failure due to corrosion. |

Cleanrooms / AMC
Airborne Molecular Contamination - AMC requires different filtration methods than those used on particulate contaminants. HEPA filtration will provide a medium to capture particles of very small diameters, but the airborne molecular contaminants will persist in the air. For control of AMC, Purafil offers a variety of patented, dry-scrubbing media that remove contaminants via adsorption - a physical process where contaminants adhere to the media's surface - and chemisorption - an instantaneous and irreversible chemical reaction where contaminants are transformed into harmless solids and remain trapped inside the media. Purafil media have a high surface area to mass ratio and contain chemical impregnants to target and eliminate contaminants of concern. |

What is enersave?
Enersave uses ASHRAE Standard 62's Indoor Air Quality Procedure to cut energy costs while improving IAQ. Enersave reduces outside air requirements and HVAC loads. How? By recirculating air that would previously have been exhausted and using Purafil's chemical filtration systems to keep air clean. Enersave provides substantial operational savings and minimizes upfront capital costs.
MEDIA LIFE ANALYSIS
Because Purafil believes in complete customer satisfaction, we offer Media Life Analysis (MLA), a value-added service that projects the remaining life of your dry-scrubbing media. Our laboratory technicians analyze media samples from your Purafil system to project when your media will need to be replaced. This service helps to maximize system efficiency. |
